Can you believe this will be our third D.C. Walk of Hope?! Every year I am more inspired than the year before - by the stories, the people, and this incredible community of support.
For our first Walk of Hope, Ben and I were in a hard place. We'd had a failed IUI, a successful IUI, and then a devastating miscarriage. We were deeply grieving the loss of our daughter Cecelia Grace, so we honored her by being Team Cece. For our second D.C. Walk of Hope, it was almost surreal - our son Parker was just six weeks old and truly a miracle - we honored him by being Team Rainbow Baby.
When I think of our infertility journey I am humbled by all the support we've received. I'm close friends with people I never would have met had it not been for Resolve and events like this. So this year we wanted our team name to reflect the encouragement we've experienced. This year we are honoring the community.
We are the Hope Warriors.
Hope can be such a tricky thing. I know what it's like to have it, only to watch it slip through your fingers, wondering if it will ever come around again. Infertility ripped me apart; the community put me back together.
Infertility is such a battle - one in eight couples are affected. One in eight! There are so many men and women still in the trenches, fighting for their dreams.
So this year, our Walk of Hope is for them. We are showing up for the people who can't - emotionally or physically - we are going to be the hope for those who have lost it. We will be the reminder that hope still exists.
Whether you'll be joining us as part of the Hope Warriors on October 15th, or simply cheering us on through your donation, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support.
