The Washington, D.C. metropolitan area covers a wide area including Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C. and southern Maryland. These areas are accessible by train or bus.
The Advocacy Day Morning Training will be held at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill and is walking distance to D.C.'s Union Station.
The Hyatt is right on Capitol Hill, just 1.6 miles from The White House (about a 15-minute drive or a 30-minute walk). They are two blocks away from The U.S. Capitol Building, one mile to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and nearby the city’s most popular tourist attractions, historic sites, museums, dining, shopping and entertainment. You can walk to popular destinations including the National Mall, Smithsonian Museums, Verizon Center and Union Station.

Lodging Options:
We recommend taking advantage of the RESOLVE's Advocacy Day room block which is also at the same location as the Morning Training or stay somewhere near a Metro station so that you can easily commute to the Morning Training location.
Try using websites like Hotels.com, Expedia.com, Kayak.com, or Airbnb.com to find a hotel/room to rent. Click here for a list of some hotels to start your search.
As many hotels in the metro area can be pricey, Airbnb.com is another great option to rent an apartment, condo or room for more reasonable rates.
Split costs: Once you have registered join the Advocacy Day Attendees Facebook page* and ask other Advocacy Day attendees if they would like to share a hotel room to split the cost or indicate that you are interested in sharing a room when you register.

What is Metro? (Using the Metro is highly recommended.)
Metro is a convenient way to get around the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. You can explore the city without the hassle of traffic and parking or the expense of gas. It would be helpful for you to download the D.C. Metro app on your cell phones. For Android search: DC Metro Transit and for Apple IPhones seach: Find a Metro or DC Metro and Bus.
Buying Fares: Metrorail fares vary by time of day and the distance between stations. Use Metro's Trip Planner to calculate the fare for your trip.
Visitor's Kit: The Metro Visitor's Kit is the definitive guide to helping you use Metro to get around the greater Washington D.C. area. Also check out this Metro Pocket Guide which provides you with the Metrorail system map, points of interest near Metrorail stations, and information on system hours, fares, and passes.

Union Station is Washington D.C., major train station, transportation hub, and leisure destination. Most buses will arrive and depart from this station.
Greyhound and Peter Pan Bus Lines have routes to Washington, D.C. Other commercial bus lines may have routes to Washington, D.C. Please check with your local bus company for more information.
For those of you who live or will be staying in the D.C. area, we strongly suggest using public transportation whenever possible. Street parking is extremely limited, particularly in the morning.
Does Hyatt Regency Washington offer Parking?
The Hyatt provides on-property indoor valet parking with 24-hour in-and-out privileges. The cost is $56 per night for standard vehicles, or $62 for SUVs and vans. Self-parking is not available, and all vehicles must have a clearance below 6’. For RVs and larger vans, parking is available at Union Station (two blocks from the hotel). They offer hourly valet parking for visitors and conference attendees for $33 for 0-2 hour, $43 for 2-10 hours, or $56 for 10-24 hours. Find more information about parking at the Hyatt here.

Once you have registered, find someone to share a hotel room with by connecting with other Advocacy Day participants on the Advocacy Day Attendees Facebook page* or indicate you would like to share a room when you register.
Ask your local family building professional to sponsor your trip
Ask co-workers, family and friends to donate miles, points, etc.

You will be have access to luggage storage at the Hyatt Regency Morning Training location.
Union Station has a place where you can store your luggage for a fee. Union Station is about a 10 minute walk from Capitol Hill.
