Voices of RESOLVE image

One of the most important goals at RESOLVE is to bring the entire family building community together, empowering both patients and professionals to make a difference. The professionals below not only help patients as part of their day jobs, they also volunteer their free time to support RESOLVE, impacting countless others beyond their immediate community.

Laura Covington
Laura Covington, Ph.D., LCSW-C

Laura Covington, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Shady Grove Fertility, where she counsels infertility patients in Washington, D.C. and Virginia, including military veterans with combat-related injuries that impair fertility, the topic of her doctoral dissertation. As chair of RESOLVE’s Support Group Oversight Committee since 2016, Laura interviews every mental health professional who wants to start a RESOLVE professionally-led support group (even doing so while writing and successfully defending her dissertation!) “It’s such a privilege to talk with other colleagues who share the same passion for helping patients and supporting RESOLVE. These mental health professionals are vital to assure that those who are looking to grow their families receive the best possible care.” Thank you, Dr. Covington, for all you do to support RESOLVE and the infertility community!

Denise Seidelman

Denise Seidelman, Esq.

Denise Seidelman, Esq. is a partner in the law firm of Rumbold & Seidelman, LLP, where she practices adoption and reproductive law in New York and New Jersey. Denise has contributed her legal skills to help draft The Child-Parent Security Act, legislation that RESOLVE supports to legalize compensated gestational carrier arrangements in New York State. She has made several trips to Albany, including for RESOLVE’s New York Advocacy Days, to meet with lawmakers about this important legislation. Denise is passionate about “allowing New York families to achieve their dream of legally and securely becoming parents with the assistance of a gestational surrogate without having to travel outside of their home state.” Kudos to Denise for not just practicing law but helping to change laws to improve access to care.

Joseph Davis
Joseph Davis, D.O., FACOG

Joseph Davis, D.O., FACOG, works with patients to address their medical, psychological, nutritional, and social needs as part of a holistic approach to care at Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York. He serves on RESOLVE’s Physician’s Council and volunteered on the 2018 Advocacy Day Planning Committee because he believes, “The right to build a family is a human right and we need to protect and promote it as a nation. I can’t think of a better organization to support and am honored to be a part of such a great movement.” RESOLVE is honored to have the support of physicians like Dr. Davis who fight for the rights of their patients.

Call to Action

Save the date for Advocacy Day: May 15-16.

Advocacy Day VolunteersAs Dr. Davis attests, Advocacy Day is one of RESOLVE’s most important initiatives, where those who are building their family, those who are resolved, friends and family, and professionals in the field all come together in Washington, D.C. to talk to their Members of Congress about issues important to our community. We need representatives from every state so mark your calendars now and watch your inbox for everything you need to know to participate in this empowering event.

Meanwhile, let your lawmakers know you care about the Access to Infertility Treatment & Care Act, which requires private and federal health insurance plans to cover IVF, plus fertility preservation for medically-induced infertility. Send this letter to your Senators and Representative asking them to support this landmark legislation.
